1STOCK Yellow Crime SignOkolona police have arrested a man on robbery charges after he allegedly brandished a knife and robbed a convenience store in Okolona just after midnight Thursday.

Okolona Assistant Police Chief Dwight Parker said authorities arrested Quentin Horton, 32, of Okolona, on charges of armed robbery and he is currently in the Chickasaw County Jail. Okolona Justice Court Judge Judy Posey set Horton’s bond at $50,000. Horton is also on hold for the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a possible parole violation.

Parker said Horton allegedly entered Dodge’s Store on Highway 245 about 12:18 a.m., Thursday and took approximately $750 in cash. Parker said Horton was allegedly armed with a knife.

Witnesses told authorities the robber was wearing a mask, hoodie and black pants. After grabbing the cash he fled the scene.

Parker said Horton had been staying at the Okolona Motel.

“I do want to thank the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department and especially deputies Unshy Randle, Jimmy Rappe and Adam Harmon with helping us in this investigation,” said Parker. “They worked very hard in helping us apprehend the suspect and most of the money has been recovered.”
